Description
These boats are intended for calm water crabbing, fishing and recreational oyster harvesting in the Nantuxent Cove and Nantuxent Creek only. They are to be affordable for the local visitors; are not new or fancy equipment. Boating and waterways are dangerous. You are assuming all of this risk when you use our boat. You are responsible for knowing and following New Jersey fishing and boating regulations.
Pricing
$75 for 1-2 people (300 pounds) on 12′ aluminum with 2 hp outboard tiller
$95 for 2-3 people (450 pounds) on 14′ aluminum with 6 hp outboard tiller
$125 for 3-4 people (550 pounds) on 16′ aluminum with 15 hp outboard tiller
$150 for 5 person on 18′ fiberglass open floor work boat with 60 hp steering console work boat that will haul traps and oyster rake.
A one day boat license and boater’s operating lesson is $25 if you do not already have a valid boating safety certificate.
Crab bait, ice is $5.
Basket is $5 used or $10 new.
Details
Boat rental agreement is made via text message.
Rentals must be prepaid by 6PM on the day before.
Boats are launched and returned on public beach for safety. (Your feet will get wet).
Boats come with fuel and safety equipment.
There is no set time for launching and returning so communicate this with us individually.
You must keep a phone inside a floating Ziplock bag (that we provide) for safety.
Cancellations
A prepaid trip may be cancelled for a wide range of reasons: weather, mechanical failure, change of personal plans, bugs, traffic delays, illness, etc. There is no refund, regardless of the reason, but you can a apply the pre-payment to schedule another day.
Rental Agreement
This Boat Rental Agreement (“Agreement”) is entered into on _______ by and between Downe Jersey Marina, 183 Bayview Road, Newport NJ 08345, Phone 856-447-3575 (“Owner”) and the undersigned renter (“Renter”).
1. Boat Information
Boat Make/Model: Lowe 12’ aluminum with 2.5 hp Yamaha outboard engine
Capacity: 3 Persons, up to 350 pounds combined
Fuel Type: Ethanol free unleaded synthetic fuel
Current Fuel Level: full at start of rental
2. Rental Terms

Rental Fee is due in full at time of reservation and is not refundable.
Rental fee includes fuel, life jackets and boat safety equipment. Children must wear life jackets at all times.
Bait, traps, nets, and fishing equipment may be available but you are encouraged to bring your own.
No fault cancellation policy: If, after the reservation, the rental is cancelled for any reason by the renter will be allowed to reschedule for an additional fee of $25. The cancellation must be more than 3 hours before planned departure to be eligible for this rescheduling discount.
If the owner cancels for any reason, the rental fee is applied to a future date.
Security Deposit Payment is due in cash, prior to departure.
3. Permitted Use
Renter agrees to:
- Use the boat only for recreational purposes;
- Operate only in approved waters in Nantuxent Creek, Nantuxent Cove and its branches; all within a mile of launch site
- Not allow more than the maximum number of passengers;
- Not operate under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
- Renter must hold a valid New Jersey Boating Safety Certificate per N.J. Stat. § 12:7-61 or be issued a one-day license by the owner at the beginning of the day of the rental.
4. Renter’s Representations
Renter affirms that:
- They are at least 18 years old;
- They are competent to operate the boat;
- All passengers will wear U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jackets, as required by 33 CFR § 175.15 and N.J. Admin. Code § 13:82-1.2.
5. Prohibited Activities
- Towing, unless authorized in writing;
- Operating after dark or before sunrise unless equipped and permitted;
- Use in commercial or illegal activities.
6. Damage and Liability
Renter is financially responsible for:
- Any damage to the boat during the rental period;
- Injury or damage caused to third parties;
- Replacement cost of lost or damaged equipment.
Downe Jersey Marina is not liable for:
- Accidents, injuries, or death;
- Loss or damage to personal property;
- Weather-related interruptions.
Liability Waiver: Renter agrees to indemnify and hold harmless Downe Jersey Marina from any and all claims arising out of the use or misuse of the boat, except those caused by the Owner’s gross negligence or willful misconduct.
7. Return Condition
Boat must be returned:
- On time
- In the same condition
- Reasonably Clean
Security deposit will be refunded within 2 business days if boat is in the same condition, no damage is found, and no equipment missing. If a problem or damage is found, this will be communicated by text message. Cash security deposits are preferred. These can be returned the same day.
8. Termination
Owner may terminate the rental at any time without refund if the Renter violates terms or is found operating unsafely.
9. Governing Law
This Agreement shall be governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey.
10. Entire Agreement
This is the entire agreement. No oral statements are binding. Any modifications must be in writing and signed by both parties.
